Job Purpose
Kwithu Women’s Group is seeking a Vocational Skills Technical Instructor to play a pivotal role in our community development initiatives. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering high-quality vocational skills training to empower individuals, particularly women and youth, in Luwinga Ward, Malawi. By imparting practical skills and knowledge, the Technical Instructor will contribute to enhancing employability and fostering socio-economic development within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive schemes of work and lesson plans for vocational skills training programs.
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction to students, facilitating both theoretical and practical learning experiences.
- Coordinate the procurement, organization, and maintenance of teaching and learning materials necessary for instructional purposes.
- Uphold discipline and adherence to classroom and workshop rules among students, fostering a conducive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance, ensuring timely updates of class registers and progress reports.
- Promptly report any losses or damages to tools and equipment to the Center Coordinator for necessary action.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety within the classroom and workshop areas, implementing and enforcing hygiene and safety protocols.
- Prepare regular reports on class activities, achievements, challenges, and outcomes for internal review and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Malawi TEVET certificate at level three or higher, Advanced Malawi Craft Certificate (MANEB), or Advanced City and Guilds Certificate. Candidates with multiple certificates will be preferred.
- Certification as a TEVET trainer with demonstrated experience in vocational skills training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Passion for community development and a commitment to empowering marginalized groups, particularly women and youth.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
