HIV/AIDS PROGRAM

With support from our partners The Egmont Trust, the project is aimed to improve the health status and psychosocial support of 61 HIV+ children and youth and to reduce the stigma associated with persons living with HIV/AIDS by working with, Educating and supporting the community’s ability to understand and respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Under the program we have the following activities that take place.

  1. The teen clubs

The Teen Club is a safe place for teens that are HIV positive to come together for recreation, and counselling plus other health related services. The teen club comprises of a group of vibrant teens that are able to be engaged in various activities like sports, drama, poems, and many others. We also work with health personnel who offer

  1. Medical Support

Children are provided with medical support which is in form of transport to help them access health services (Health screening, Viral load screening)

  1. Community Outreach (Vwila)

Through this program we have 24 community volunteers who do door to door campaigns in spreading the information on HIV/AIDS and other emerging issues like COVID-19, Sexual Gender Based Violence, among many others.

  1. Trainings

In partnership with Ministry of Health, Lighthouse, Ministry of Gender, the community volunteers and community leaders are given updated information which they disseminate in the community.

More Programs

Kwithu Community Based Organization runs three programs; namely, feeding, education and empowerment.

Feed

Feeding program that provides hot, nutritious meals to over 300 children and the elderly three times a week.

HIV/AIDS

A program that provides a safe space for 60 teens and young adults where they can share their experiences and challenges with regards to ART and psychological support.
